Muxes
Muxes are males who choose feminine appearances. They play a critical role in taking care of their parents because sons and daughters are likely to eventually have families of their own. The third gender has existed in the Oaxaca region of Mexico for a long time; In pre-Colombian Mexico, there were male-to-female Aztec priests and androgynous Mayan gods.
