Hijras

Hijras are males who take on female roles but are considered a third gender dating back thousands of years, mentioned in ancient epics. They are thought to bring good fortune in weddings and give blessings to newborns, but there is now a lot of discrimination against them. However, they were recently legally recognized as a third gender option in India.
